CANON SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT
IMPORTANT
This is a legal agreement ("Agreement") between you and Canon Inc. ("Canon") and governing your use of Canon's software programs including the related manuals or any printed material thereof (the "SOFTWARE") for certain Canon's copying machines, printers and multifunctional peripherals (the "Products").
READ CAREFULLY AND UNDERSTAND ALL OF THE RIGHTS AND RESTRICTIONS DESCRIBED IN THIS AGREEMENT BEFORE INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE. BY CLICKING THE BUTTON INDICATING YOUR ACCEPTANCE AS STATED BELOW OR INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT, DO NOT USE THE SOFTWARE.
1. GRANT OF LICENSE
Canon grants you a personal, limited and non-exclusive license to use ("use" as used herein shall include storing, loading, installing, accessing, executing or displaying) the SOFTWARE solely for the use with Products only on computers directly or via network connected to the Products (the "Designated Computer").
You may allow other users of other computers connected to your Designated Computer to use the SOFTWARE, provided that you must assure that all such users shall abide by the terms of this Agreement and shall be subject to restrictions and obligations borne by you hereunder.
You may make one copy of the SOFTWARE solely for a back-up purpose.
2. RESTRICTIONS
You shall not use the SOFTWARE except as expressly granted or permitted herein, and shall not assign, sublicense, sell, rent, lease, loan, convey or transfer to any third party the SOFTWARE. You shall not alter, translate or convert to another programming language, modify, disassemble, decompile or otherwise reverse engineer the SOFTWARE and you shall not have any third party to do so.
3. COPYRIGHT NOTICE
You shall not modify, remove or delete any copyright notice of Canon or its licensors contained in the SOFTWARE, including any copy thereof.
4. OWNERSHIP
Canon and its licensors retain in all respects the title, ownership and intellectual property rights in and to the SOFTWARE. Except as expressly provided herein, no license or right, express or implied, is hereby conveyed or granted by Canon to you for any intellectual property of Canon and its licensors.
5. EXPORT CONTROL
You agree to comply with all export laws and restrictions and regulations of the country involved, and not to export or re-export, directly or indirectly, the SOFTWARE in violation of any such laws, restrictions and regulations, or without all necessary approvals.
6. SUPPORT AND UPDATE
NEITHER CANON, CANON'S SUBSIDIARIES OR AFFILIATES, THEIR DISTRIBUTORS, OR DEALERS NOR CANON'S LICENSORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING OR HELPING YOU TO USE THE SOFTWARE, OR PROVIDING YOU WITH ANY UPDATES, FIXES OR SUPPORT FOR THE SOFTWARE HEREUNDER.
7. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES AND LIABILITY
[NO WARRANTY] THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE SOFTWARE IS WITH YOU. SHOULD THE SOFTWARE PROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE ENTIRE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR CORRECTION. SOME STATES OR LEGAL JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO THE ABOVE EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO STATE OR JURISDICTION TO JURISDICTION.
NEITHER CANON, CANON'S SUBSIDIARIES OR AFFILIATES, THEIR DISTRIBUTORS, OR DEALERS NOR CANON'S LICENSORS WARRANT THAT THE FUNCTIONS CONTAINED IN THE SOFTWARE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR THAT THE OPERATION OF THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR FREE.
[NO LIABILITY FOR DAMAGES] IN NO EVENT SHALL EITHER CANON, CANON'S SUBSIDIARIES OR AFFILIATES, THEIR DISTRIBUTORS DEALERS OR CANON'S LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, LOSS OF BUSINESS PROFITS, LOSS OF BUSINESS INFORMATION, LOSS OF BUSINESS INTERRUPTION OR OTHER COMPENSATORY, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES) ARISING OUT OF THE SOFTWARE, USE THEREOF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE EVEN IF EITHER CANON, CANON'S SUBSIDIARIES OR AFFILIATES, THEIR DISTRIBUTORS, DEALERS OR CANON'S LICENSORS HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. SOME STATES OR LEGAL JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH RESULTING FROM NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF THE SELLER, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
[RELEASE OF LIABILITY] TO THE FULL EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, YOU HEREBY RELEASE CANON, CANON'S SUBSIDIARIES AND AFFILIATES, THEIR DISTRIBUTORS, DEALERS AND CANON'S LICENSORS FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO ALL CLAIMS CONCERNING THE SOFTWARE OR ITS USE.
8. TERM
This Agreement is effective upon your acceptance hereof by clicking the button indicating your acceptance as stated below or installing the SOFTWARE and remains in effect until terminated. You may terminate this Agreement by destroying the SOFTWARE including any and all copies thereof.
This Agreement shall also terminate if you fail to comply with any terms hereof. Upon termination of this Agreement, in addition to Canon enforcing its respective legal rights, you must then promptly destroy the SOFTWARE including any and all copies thereof. Notwithstanding the foregoing, Sections 4, and 7 through 11 shall survive any termination of this Agreement.

2.Double-click the [UFRII_LT_LIPS_LX_Installer.pkg] icon.
3.Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.
NOTE:
After the installation, you need to add the printer you want to use in [Print & Fax], [Print & Scan] or [Printers & Scanners] of [System Preferences], and then set up the printer configuration. Refer to the Canon UFR II/UFRII LT Printer Driver Guide for details.
If you have downloaded the driver from the Canon web site, part of the folder structure may differ from that described.
IMPORTANT:
After setting up the printer configuration, confirm that the right printer name is selected in the [Printer Information] dialog box. On the top of the [Printer Information] dialog box, the printer name that you have selected when setting up the printer is displayed. In the list below, the name of the printer that is connected to your computer is displayed. Confirm those two printer names match. If they don't match, re-setup the printer configuration.
The [Printer Information] dialog box can be opened from the main window of Canon Office Printer Utility. For more information on Canon Office Printer Utility, refer to "Canon Office Printer Utility."
You cannot downgrade install this product.

Select the appropriate printer in [Print & Fax], [Print & Scan] or [Printers & Scanners] in [System Preferences], and click [Options & Supplies] → [Utility] → [Open Printer Utility].
If you are using Mac OS X 10.5, select the appropriate printer in [Print & Fax] in [System Preferences], and start the print queue by clicking [Open Print Queue]. In the print queue, click [Utility].
Cautions, Limitations and Restrictions
When installing from the installer, some of the functions of the driver may not operate correctly when the driver module is run. If this happens, first quit all applications or restart the operating system, then start the product.
If you have installed a prior version of the printer driver, after installing the new version of the printer driver, delete and reinstall the printer in [Print & Fax], [Print & Scan] or [Printers & Scanners] of [System Preferences].
When you print using department ID management with a printer equipped with a card reader, you must switch the printer driver to bidirectional communication mode. Click [Printer Information] in Canon Office Printer Utility, and update the device options. You must perform this procedure every time you register a printer.
When registering a printer in [System Preferences], select printer software (PPD) for the same printer model as the one you are using. If you select the wrong PPD, the printer driver will not operate correctly.
Also, if you are using the driver in unidirectional communication mode, after registering the printer, set the device options manually in [System Preferences] - [Print & Fax]/[Print & Scan]/[Printers & Scanners] - [Options & Supplies] - [Driver]/[Options]. If these settings and the device options installed in the printer do not match, the printer driver will not operate correctly.
Using Adobe Reader 6.0.1 or later or Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0.1 or later for printing may result in illegible characters.
The Online Help may not be displayed when you click the [?] button in the Print dialog box. If this happens, you can access the Online Help from the Help Viewer.
Select [UFR II/UFRII LT Printer Driver Help] from the [Library] menu in the Help Viewer.
When communication with the printer fails, items in the print dialog box may not be displayed correctly. If this occurs, check the connection of the printer as indicated below (*), then close and reopen the Print dialog box. Click [Printer Information] in Canon Office Printer Utility, then close and reopen the Print dialog box again.
* Checking the connection of the printer
1. Check the network/USB cable connection and the power lead of the printer.
2. Pull out the USB cable then connect it again.
3. Restart your computer or the printer.
Depending on the printer model you are using, performance of your Macintosh and the data you are printing, printing may not start or may stop due to a timeout error. In this case, specify a longer timeout period or select Off in the Error Time Out setting under Printer Settings on the control panel of the printer.
If you print a document in landscape orientation with [Z-fold] selected in the [Finishing] preferences pane of the [Print] dialog box, the output sheets may be folded in an undesired direction. If this happens, select [Reverse Page Orientation] in the [Layout] preferences pane in the [Print] dialog box.
Because Argentina Legal is the same paper size as Argentina Oficio, it may not be correctly displayed and selectable by Mac OS X. If you want to specify Argentina Legal, select Argentina Oficio instead.
Because Folio is the same paper size as Foolscap, it may not be correctly displayed and selectable by Mac OS X. If you want to specify Folio, select Foolscap instead.
If the print result differs from the preview, select [Raster Mode] for [Graphics Mode] in the [Quality Settings] dialog box of the [Quality] preferences pane, then try printing again.
If you are using Adobe Illustrator CS3 or CS4, and you select [Defined by Driver] in the [Size] pop-up menu in [Media], you may not be able to output the number of copies specified and indicated. If so, select the paper size you want to use in the [Size] pop-up menu.
If you are using Adobe Photoshop CS5, be sure to register the printer you are using in [System Preferences] first.
If you click [Print] in the [File] menu of Adobe Photoshop CS5 to open the [Print] dialog box, then open the [Print Settings] dialog box by clicking the [Print Settings] button in the [Print] dialog box, you may not be able to open the [Print Settings] dialog box thereafter even if you register the printer in [System Preferences].
Also, if you cannot open the [Print Settings] dialog box, change [Printer] to an output destination whose [Print Settings] dialog box you can open, open the [Print Settings] dialog box and save the print settings, and select the printer you want to use from the [Print] dialog box.
If you are using the imageRUNNER ADVANCE 8085, 8095, or 8105 with the Staple Finisher F1 or Booklet Finisher F1, you cannot output custom paper sizes from 148.0 mm to 181.9 mm (5.83 inches to 7.16 inches).
If you are using the imageRUNNER ADVANCE 8205 PRO, 8285 PRO, or 8295 PRO with the Staple Finisher Q1 or Booklet Finisher Q1, you cannot output custom paper sizes from 148.0 mm to 181.9 mm (5.83 inches to 7.16 inches).
If both [Fold Type] and [Staple]/[Hole Punch] are set at the same time and printing is performed, depending on the optional unit attached to the printer (such as a finisher and puncher) the [Fold Type] or [Staple]/[Hole Punch] settings may not be reflected on the print result.
The default setting for [Print Style] for some printers that support two-sided printing is [2-sided Printing]/[Two-Sided Printing].
If you have discovered that the printer cable is disconnected while a print job is being sent to the printer, and have reconnected the cable and continued sending the print job, there is still a possibility that the document is not printed correctly. If the document has not been printed correctly, print the document again. If you still cannot print the document, restart the printer and print the document again.
When specifying a paper size with a large print area, and printing with gutters, there may be cases where gutter width is larger than that specified. If you need to print with a precise gutter width, print according to the following procedure.
1. With the gutter width and binding locations specified, click the [Finishing Details] button in the [Finishing] preferences pane to display the [Finishing Details] dialog box.
2. Select [Rotate Print Data 180 Degrees] in the [Finishing Details] dialog box.
3. Click the [OK] button to close the [Finishing Details] dialog box.
4. Click the [Print] button.
To install the printer driver under a multi-user environment, log on to the computer as Administrator.
Depending on the application software used, dialog boxes opened from the Print dialog box may be hidden behind the Print dialog box.
An error may occur if the following operations are performed during sending a job to a printer:
Searching for a USB connected printer in the [System Preferences]
Connecting another USB printer to the computer
Sending a second job to a different USB printer while a job is being completed at a USB printer
When clicking the [Printer Information] button in the [Print] dialog box, if you fail to set up the printer configuration, the printer driver will not operate correctly. In this case, check the network/USB cable connection and the power lead of the printer, then click the [Printer Information] button.
If you change the setting for [Presets] in the Print dialog box, an error may occur. In this case, display the preview once before printing.
When you install this printer driver using the installer, the amount of disk space displayed is less than the actual amount that is needed when installing. Before installing, confirm that your computer has enough free disk space.
When using Adobe products such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Reader, configure the print settings using either the print dialog box of the Adobe application you are using or the print dialog box of this product. If you configure settings using both print dialog boxes, the document may not print correctly.
When adding a printer with a USB connection, if [Auto Select] is selected for [Print Using]/[Use] and a message saying that the printer is available to use is displayed in the pane that opens when you click [+] in [Print & Fax], [Print & Scan] or [Printers & Scanners], select the printer driver corresponding to the printer you are using from [Print Using]/[Use].
Print jobs may print incorrectly if you perform stop and restart or hold and restart in the print queue dialog box. If this happens, delete the remaining jobs in the print queue and print them again.
After updating the operating system, you may not be able to use printers that were added prior to the update. If this happens, delete the printer and add the printers again.
If you are using Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you may not be able to select the preferences pane pull-down menu in the [Print] dialog box, or the application may force quit. If this happens, restart the application.
Also, save the data before opening the [Print] dialog box.
When you drag and drop a file to the print queue for printing, the print result may be incorrect. If this happens, open the file in the application you used to create it and print the file from there.
If you are using Mac OS X 10.7 or later, the paper size previously displayed as "Statement" is now displayed as "Invoice".
If you are using Mac OS X 10.5.8, and set an unsupported long paper size for printing, the print job will stop but an error message will not be displayed. If this happens, verify that the correct long paper size is specified, and then reprint the print job.
Before registering a printer in [System Preferences], make sure you correctly set [System Preferences] - [Language & Text] - [Formats] - [Region]. If the region is not set correctly, the printer driver may not operate correctly.
If you select [ColorSync] in the [Color Matching] preferences pane, the color/black and white automatic switching function may be disabled, and black and white pages may be printed as color.
If you are using Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you may not be able to use custom paper sizes for perfect binding in some applications. If this happens, convert the application data to PDF format and perform perfect binding from Adobe Reader, or save the print data in a box in the printer and perform perfect binding from the control panel of the printer.
When using custom paper sizes, set the paper size so that it is in portrait orientation. If you want to use a custom paper size with landscape orientation, set the paper size so that it is in landscape orientation, and then set the print orientation to horizontal.
If you are using the LPB5900, you will need 128MB of extended memory to perform 2-sided printing using the [High 2] setting on paper sizes larger than A3.
If you are using the imageRUNNER 2520/2520i, 2525/2525i, 2530/2530i, 2535/2535i, or 2545/2545i, and are printing on a custom paper size, a message may be displayed and printing canceled. To avoid this problem, print using paper sizes within the limits of the custom paper sizes supported by the devices.
If you are using the imageRUNNER 2520/2520i, 2525/2525i, 2530/2530i, 2535/2535i, or 2545/2545i, and set a stapling position that differs from the binding location, stapling may not be performed correctly. If this happens, change the resolution setting from 1200 dpi to 600 dpi, or set the binding location to match the stapling position.
If your printer also has PostScript printing function, follow the steps below to add a printer via a USB connection.
1. Open the [Print & Fax], [Print & Scan] or [Printers & Scanners] from [System Preferences].
2. Turn on your printer then connect it to the computer with a USB cable.
3. Click the [+] in the [Print & Fax], [Print & Scan] or [Printers & Scanners] in [System Preferences].
(If the printer you want to use is registered as "Generic PostScript Printer" in the [Kind] column, steps 4 to 7 below are unnecessary.)
4. Select [Default] in the printer registration dialog box, then select [Generic PostScript Printer] from the [Print Using]/[Use].
5. Click [Add].
6. Click [Configure].
7. Click [Continue] without performing any operations in the configuration settings window of the PPD.
8. Add the printer using the [Print & Fax], [Print & Scan] or [Printers & Scanners] from [System Preferences] as instructed in the Canon UFR II/UFRII LT Printer Driver Guide.
9. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the computer and the printer two or more times.
10. When you print, select the printer added in step 8.
NOTE:
If you have deleted the Generic PostScript Printer, delete the printer that you added in step 8, then follow the procedure from steps 1 to 7 again.
If the printer starts to print during the above procedure, cancel the print job on the panel of the printer.
If you select a custom paper size, the closest standard paper size may instead be used when printing. If this happens, adjust the paper size slightly.
Depending on the custom paper size setting, print data may not fit in the print area of the device and may not be printed. If this happens, adjust the paper size.
When registering a printer after installation, similar driver names such as "Canon iPR C1" and "Canon iPR C1 UFR II (UK)/Canon iPR C1 UFR II (US)" may be displayed at the stage where you need to select a driver. If this happens, select the name without "(UK)/(US)" (e.g. "Canon iPR C1").
If you are using Mac OS X 10.6.x or earlier, and register a printer shared under Windows via an SMB connection, the print setting of printers whose default is 2-sided printing may become 1-sided printing.
When using Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader, if you select the Collate option along with Finishing option and print several copies of the document, Finishing option is applied to all the copies. For example, if you print 3 copies and select the Collate option with Staple option, you get 3 copies stapled together.
When you update Mac OS X, there may be cases where the colors are misaligned when printing in color.
When you update Mac OS X, you may not be able to acquire the device information from [Printer Information] in the Canon Office Printer Utility. If this happens, set the device options manually in [System Preferences] - [Print & Fax]/[Print & Scan]/[Printers & Scanners] - [Options & Supplies] - [Driver]/[Options].
If you use Mac OS X 10.10 or later, delete the printer(s) from [System Preferences] – [Printers & Scanners], then install the latest version of the driver and add the printer(s) again.
In a Mac OS X 10.9 or earlier operating system, if you install the latest version of the driver, and register and use a printer from [System Preferences] - [Print & Fax]/[Print & Scan]/[Printers & Scanners], then update to the latest operating system, you may not be able to use such functions as Department ID Management that utilize bidirectional communication between the device and the computer.
In such cases, click [Printer Information] in the Canon Office Printer Utility.
